Time & Date – 7:30 pm, Tuesday, March 2nd, 2010
Venue – The Palace of Auburn Hills, Auburn Hills, Michigan
Boston will be looking to even the score in Michigan after losing the first of three regular season games with the Pistons. Detroit took the early lead at home with a 92-86 win on January 20th, and plans to extend that lead on Tuesday. Last year it was the Celtics in control, nearly sweeping their foes by dominating the first three meetings in the four-game season series. We’ll soon see if Boston can catch up quickly, or if it’s Detroit’s turn to be on the verge of banking a sweep.
On the court since 1946, a part of the NBA from its start in 1949, and based out of Boston as the Celtics from the beginning, the visiting team earned its 27th division championship last year, its 20th conference championship in 2008, and its 17th league championship also in 2008. The Boston Celtics have made it to the playoffs 47 times, most recently last year when seven games against the Orlando Magic ended their postseason in the conference semifinals.
On the court since 1941 as the Fort Wayne Zollner Pistons, simplified to the Fort Wayne Pistons in 1948, a part of the NBA from its start in 1949, and relocated to Detroit in 1957, the home team earned its 15th division championship in 2008, its 7th conference championship in 2005, and its 5th league championship in 2004. The Detroit Pistons have made it to the playoffs 47 times including seven appearances as the Fort Wayne Zollner Pistons and eight as the Fort Wayne Pistons. Their most recent postseason took place last year, but resulted in a disappointing first round sweep delivered by the Cleveland Cavaliers.
