The Pistons head to Nuggets territory for the second and final regular season game between the teams, and have the chance to dominate this year’s two-game season series just as they did last year. Last season Detroit won the first game in Denver and then swept the series back at home. They’ll have to be on their toes in Colorado if they want a repeat sweep against the Nuggets.
Established in 1941 as the Fort Wayne Zollner Pistons, a part of the NBA from 1948 as the Fort Wayne Pistons, and relocated to Detroit in 1957, the visiting team won its 15th division championship in 2008, its 7th conference championship in 2005, and its 5th league championship in 2004. The Detroit Pistons have made it to the playoffs 47 times including 15 appearances out of Fort Wayne. Their latest postseason took place last year, and was ended early by the Cleveland Cavaliers after just four games in the conference quarterfinals.
Established in 1967 as the Denver Rockets, renamed the Nuggets in 1974, and a part of the NBA from 1976, the home team won its 9th division championship last year and its 1st conference championship in 1976, and is working hard for a second opportunity to secure its first league championship. The Denver Nuggets have made it to the playoffs 29 times including seven appearances as the Rockets. Their latest postseason took place last year, and was ended by the Los Angeles Lakers after six games in the conference finals.
