Conor McGregor Favoured Against Eddie Alvarez in Potential Title Clash

Dana White and the UFC have made it clear to Conor McGregor that there are two options for his next fight - a Featherweight title defense against Jose Aldo or a Lightweight title batle against Eddie Alvarez.

Conor McGregor has already stated that he has little interest in a rematch against Jose Aldo, which means that there is a very good chance that he will fight Eddie Alvarez for the title next. It makes sense, as McGregor originally was scheduled to fight Rafael dos Anjos for the Lightweight title at UFC 196. Dos Anjos hurt his foot, Nate Diaz took his spot and the rest is history.

According to Las Vegas oddsmakers, McGregor is the favourite in a potential tilt against Lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez. Here are the current betting odds as of this moment:

Conor McGregor, -185
Eddie Alvarez, +150

These odds means that a successful $185 wager on McGregor would return a total profit of $100, while a successful $100 bet on Alvarez would result in a total profit of $150.

Eddie Alvarez is extremely hard to put away and has the heart of a lion. He defeated the very tough Rafael dos Anjos via first round knockout and has fought against the likes of Donald Cerrone and Gilbert Melendez.

In McGregor, Alvarez would be getting a hard-hitting opponent who has the potential to end the fight with one punch. In addition, McGregor showed a much improved takedown defense in his second fight against Nate Diaz, which will add another dimension to his game.

If this fight does come together, expect it to headline UFC 205 in New York this fall.
