Here’s a look at how the Jets and the Bengals ended their 2009 regular seasons.

NEW YORK JETS

2nd in the AFC East and seeded 5th for the playoffs, the New York Jets finished with a 9-7 record. The offense brought in 37 touchdowns and averaged 321 yards per game, while the defense allowed only 26 touchdowns and an average of 252.3 yards per game. Quarterback Mark Sanchez completed 196 out of 364 passes for a 53.8 percent completion rate, running back Thomas Jones led in rushing with 1,402 yards, wide receiver Jerricho Cotchery reached the top of receiving with 821 yards, and linebacker David Harris was king with 127 tackles in total.

CINCINNATI BENGALS

1st in the AFC North and seeded 4th for the playoffs, the Cincinnati Bengals finished with a 10-6 record. The offense brought in 34 touchdowns and averaged 309.1 yards per game, while the defense allowed only 32 touchdowns and an average of 301.4 yards per game. Quarterback Carson Palmer completed 282 out of 466 passes for a 60.5 percent completion rate, running back Cedric Benson led in rushing with 1,251 yards, wide receiver Chad Ochocinco reached the top of receiving with 1,047 yards, and linebacker Dhani Jones was king with 113 tackles in total.

Last season the New York Jets finished 3rd in their division with a 9-7 record. The Cincinnati Bengals also finished 2008 3rd in their division, but with a 4-11 record.
