Event – Buffalo Sabres at Carolina Hurricanes
Time & Date – 7 pm, Thursday, February 11th, 2010
Venue – RBC Center, Raleigh, North Carolina
The Sabres head to Carolina for game three of the season series, and will be eager to bring back their early lead. Buffalo started off in control with a 5-1 home win on November 28th, but lost it on Friday when the Hurricanes tied things up with a 4-3 away win. The Sabres will be the ones on the road for the second half of the series, and we’ll soon see if home ice advantage brings the Hurricanes what they need to finish on top. The two teams were on par last season, each winning one at home and one away.
Founded in 1970 and playing in the NHL as the Buffalo Sabres from the start, the visiting team earned its 5th division title in 2007, its 2nd conference title in 1999, and is working hard to top the league. The Buffalo Sabres have advanced to postseason play 27 times, most recently reaching the conference finals in 2007 when the Ottawa Senators proved superior in five games.
Founded in 1972 as the New England Whalers, playing in the NHL since 1979 out of Hartford, and home in Carolina as the Hurricanes since 1997, the home team earned its 3rd division title, its 2nd conference title, and its 1st league title in 2006. The Carolina Hurricanes have advanced to postseason play 20 times including seven playoff appearances as the New England Whalers and eight as the Hartford Whalers. Their most recent appearance took place last year and brought them to the conference finals where they were swept by the Pittsburgh Penguins.
