Believe it or not, the next NHL season is just around the corner.

By the beginning of September, NHL training camps will start congregating, and by mid-October, the season will be in full swing (assuming that there is no work stoppages).

Which teams are the current favorites to win the Stanley Cup this year? Will the Los Angeles Kings defend their crowns? Will Rick Nash help push the New York Rangers over the edge? What about the Philadelphia Flyers?

As of this second, the Pittsburgh Penguins are the current odds-on favorites to win the 2012-13 Stanley Cup. According to Bodog, the Penguins are currently 8-1 to win the Stanley Cup. Obviously the Penguins chances will largely hinge on the health of their captain, Sidney Crosby.

Next up, the New York Rangers who are currently listed at 9/1 to win the Stanley Cup. The Rangers added Rick Nash to their team in the offseason and are looking to make a push for the Stanley Cup.

The next three teams are:

Vancouver Canucks, 11/1
Los Angeles King, 12/1
Philadelphia Flyers, 13/1

The Kings are looking to repeat as Stanley Cup champions (never an easy task).

The rest of the teams look like this:

Chicago Blackhawks, 14/1
Detroit Red Wings, 15/1
Boston Bruins, 16/1
St. Louis Blues, 16/1
Minnesota Wild, 18/1
San Jose Sharks, 20/1
Buffalo Sabres, 22/1
Carolina Hurricanes, 22/1
Nashville Predators, 25/1
Tampa Bay Lightning, 25/1
Washington Capitals, 25/1
New Jersey Devils, 28/1
Edmonton Oilers, 30/1
Toronto Maple Leafs, 35/1
Anaheim Ducks, 40/1
Colorado Avalanche, 40/1
Florida Panthers, 40/1
Montreal Canadiens, 40/1
Ottawa Senators, 40/1
Phoenix Coyotes, 40/1
Calgary Flames, 50/1
Dallas Stars, 50/1
Winnipeg Jets, 50/1
New York Islanders, 75/1
Columbus Blue Jackets, 100/1

In terms of long shot teams if you want to put a couple of dollars down, I like:

Florida Panthers, 40/1
Ottawa Senators, 40/1
Dallas Stars, 50/1
