CINCINNATI BEARCATS
The Bearcats finished 1st in the Big East Conference with an Associated Press ranking of #4 and a 12-0 (7-0 Big East) record. The offense brought in 59 touchdowns and averaged 464.3 yards per game, while the defense allowed only 29 touchdowns and an average of 350.3 yards per game. Quarterback Tony Pike completed 184 of 293 for a 62.8 percent completion rate, running back Isaiah Pead led in rushing with a total of 758 yards, wide receiver Mardy Gilyard reached the top of receiving with 1,150 yards, and defensive back Aaron Webster collected the most interceptions with 4 altogether.
FLORIDA GATORS
The Gators finished 1st in the East Division and 2nd in the Southeastern Conference with an Associated Press ranking of #5 and a 12-1 (8-0 SEC) record. The offense brought in 51 touchdowns and averaged 442.4 yards per game, while the defense allowed only 13 touchdowns and an average of 252.8 yards per game. Quarterback Tim Tebow completed 182 of 279 for a 65.2 percent completion rate and also led in rushing with a total of 859 yards, wide receiver Riley Cooper reached the top of receiving with 780 yards, and cornerback Joe Haden collected the most interceptions with 4 altogether.

Last season the Bearcats finished 1st in their conference with an Associated Press ranking of #17 and an 11-3 (6-1 Big East) record. Cincinnati played against the #15 Virginia Tech Hokies in the Orange Bowl, but was defeated 20-7.

Florida topped its conference after defeating the #6 Alabama Crimson Tide 31-20 in the SEC Championship Game, and became the nation’s best after defeating the #5 Oklahoma Sooners 24-14 in the BCS Championship Game.
