Oregon has a 1-4 record after appearing five times, most recently losing 38-20 to the Penn State Nittany Lions in 1995. Ohio State has a 6-8 record after appearing fourteen times, most recently winning 20-17 against the Arizona State Sun Devils in 1997.
Playing since 1894, the Ducks won their 7th conference title in 2001. Oregon has a 9-13 bowl games record and an all-time winning percentage of .542.
Playing since 1890, the Buckeyes won their 35th conference title last year and their 5th national title in 2002. Ohio State has an 18-22 bowl games record and an all-time winning percentage of .715.

OREGON DUCKS
Oregon finished 1st in the Pacific 10 Conference with an Associated Press ranking of #7 and a 10-2 (8-1 Pac-10) record. The offense brought in 52 touchdowns and averaged 424.7 yards per game, while the defense allowed only 31 touchdowns and an average of 329.4 yards per game. Quarterback Jeremiah Masoli completed 168 of 285 for a 58.9 percent completion rate, running back LaMichael James led in rushing with a total of 1,476 yards, wide receiver Jeff Maehl reached the top of receiving with 686 yards, and cornerback Talmadge Jackson collected the most interceptions with 4 altogether.
OHIO STATE BUCKEYES
Ohio State finished 1st in the Big Ten Conference with an Associated Press ranking of #8 and a 10-2 (7-1 Big Ten) record. The offense brought in 37 touchdowns and averaged 364.8 yards per game, while the defense allowed only 16 touchdowns and an average of 262.5 yards per game. Quarterback Terrelle Pryor completed 144 of 258 for a 55.8 percent completion rate and also led in rushing with a total of 707 yards, wide receiver DeVier Posey reached the top of receiving with 727 yards, and cornerback Kurt Coleman collected the most interceptions with 5 altogether.
Will the Ducks win their second Rose Bowl in six trips, or will the Buckeyes win their seventh in fifteen?
Last season Oregon finished 2nd in its conference with an Associated Press ranking of #10 and a 10-3 (7-2 Pac-10) record. The Ducks played against the #12 Oklahoma State Cowboys in the Holiday Bowl, and won 42-31.
Ohio State finished 2008 tied for 1st in its conference with an Associated Press ranking of #9 and a 10-3 (7-1 Big Ten) record. The Buckeyes played against the #4 Texas Longhorns in the Fiesta Bowl, but were defeated 24-21.
