It's one of the first in the bowl games postseason, and Emerald invites Boston College to face the University of Southern California in its eighth-ever matchup. The Eagles appeared in 2003 and won 35-21 against the Colorado State Rams, while the Trojans have never before played in the Emerald Bowl. Both teams will be eager to end the season on a win.
Playing since 1893, the Boston College Eagles won their 2nd division title last year and their 1st conference title in 2004. They have a 13-7 bowl games record and an all-time winning percentage of .587.
Playing since 1888, the USC Trojans won their 38th conference title last year and their 9th national title in 2004. They have a 31-16 bowl games record and an all-time winning percentage of .706.

Here’s a look at how the Eagles and the Trojans did in the regular season.
BOSTON COLLEGE EAGLES
The Eagles finished 2nd in the Atlantic Division of the Atlantic Coast Conference with an 8-4 (5-3 ACC) record. The offense brought in 36 touchdowns and averaged 324.9 yards per game, while the defense allowed only 20 touchdowns and an average of 318.4 yards per game. Quarterback Dave Shinskie completed 134 of 254 for a 52.8 percent completion rate, running back Montel Harris led in rushing with a total of 1,355 yards, wide receiver Rich Gunnell reached the top of receiving with 750 yards, and cornerback Roderick Rollins collected the most interceptions with 3 altogether.
USC TROJANS
The Trojans finished 5th in the Pacific 10 Conference with an 8-4 (5-4 Pac-10) record. The offense brought in 37 touchdowns and averaged 385 yards per game, while the defense allowed 28 touchdowns and an average of 342.8 yards per game. Quarterback Matt Barkley completed 184 of 315 for a 58.4 percent completion rate, running back Joe McKnight led in rushing with a total of 1,014 yards, wide receiver Damian Williams reached the top of receiving with 821 yards, and safety Will Harris collected the most interceptions with 4 altogether.
Will the Eagles repeat victory in their second trip to the Emerald Bowl, or will the Trojans walk out the winners in their first?
Last season Boston College finished tied for 1st in its division with a 9-5 (5-3 ACC) record. The Eagles were defeated 30-12 by the Virginia Tech Hokies in the ACC Championship Game, and 16-14 by the Vanderbilt Commodores in the Music City Bowl.
USC finished 2008 1st in its conference with a 12-1 (8-1 Pac-10) record, and was ranked #3 in the nation by the Associated Press. The Trojans played against the Penn State Nittany Lions in the Rose Bowl, and won 38-24.
